Artistic value
Despite its title, “Golden Face” is one of the most abstract compositions in the series: a blue-framed square, split diagonally between a weave of blue calligraphy and a field of golden script. Here the letter becomes pure texture, and the contrast of midnight blue and gold recalls the tradition of illuminated manuscripts. The work shows the artist's ability to move from figure to sign.
