About the artwork

A precisely rendered female gaze emerges from a red and dark veil enveloping the face. Red, black, pink and ivory calligraphic forms cross the fabric and scatter across a beige background marked with fine splashes. Created in mixed media on canvas, this 70 × 80 cm painting combines the realism of the eyes with the freedom of flowing, painterly lettering.

Artistic value

In “Pride of the Atlas,” the gaze anchors a dignified and assured presence. The veil concentrates expression in the eyes, while the letters extend that presence beyond the face. The contrast between the precise portrait and the scattered signs creates a dialogue between inner experience and outward expression. The title connects this encounter to the symbolic landscape of the Atlas, bringing cultural belonging, strength and sensitivity together.
